A meeting was organized with external stakeholders on October 31, 2025, to develop the educational activities of our department and strengthen quality processes.
In addition to the faculty members and student representatives of the History Department, the following external stakeholders participated in the meeting.
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Serbestoğlu (Ondokuz Mayıs University, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Çarşamba),
Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Fatih Sansar (Ege University, Deputy Director of the Institute of Turkic World Studies),
Berşan Gölen (TOBB Anatolian High School, History Teacher)
Hulusi Artukoğlu (Burdur Science High School, History Teacher) participated.,
The meeting started with the opening speech and presentation of Prof. Dr. Zafer Gölen, Head of the History Department. Prof. Dr. Gölen shared with the participants the improvements made as a result of previous meetings with external stakeholders and the efforts carried out to enhance the quality of the department.
Opinions and Suggestions of Prof. Dr. İbrahim Serbestoğlu (Ondokuz Mayıs University)
Prof. Dr. Serbestoğlu provided information about the quality studies conducted at Ondokuz Mayıs University and made the following suggestions to the MAKÜ History Department:
- More emphasis should be placed on practical courses.
- Educational processes should be supported with extracurricular activities.
- *Graduation projects should be planned within the framework of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program; even if the project is not supported by TÜBİTAK, students should continue their graduation projects within this scope and defend them before a jury.
- Student seminars and reading activities should be organized; active learning should be supported with sessions where predetermined books are discussed together by faculty members and students.
- Historical Field Research course can be included in the curriculum to allow students to benefit more from field trips.
Opinions and Suggestions of Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Fatih Sansar (Ege University Institute of Turkic World Studies)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sansar provided information about the quality studies conducted at their institute and made the following suggestions for the MAKÜ History Department:
- Participation in the Orhun Exchange Program mobility should be ensured, similar to the Erasmus exchange program.
- Joint symposiums and workshops should be organized with universities from the Turkic World.
- Students should be involved in international research and field projects at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Project-based support can be obtained from your university's youth office.
Opinions and Suggestions of Hulusi Artukoğlu (Burdur Science High School, History Teacher)
History teacher Hulusi Artukoğlu made the following suggestions for the MAKÜ History Department:
- As high school teachers, we would like to come together with undergraduate students to share our experiences in the profession.
- We would like to bring our high school students together with undergraduate students.
Opinions and Suggestions of Berşan Gölen (TOBB Anatolian High School, History Teacher)
History teacher Berşan Gölen made the following suggestions for the MAKÜ History Department:
- We expect contributions from the MAKÜ history department in our activities, celebrations, and projects as the Ministry of National Education.
Student representatives Sevim Çetin, Kenan Çapur, and Elif Zeynep Çoban expressed their desire to benefit more from student exchange programs and field studies.

3-Adding the Historical Field Research course to the curriculum
4-Preparing a program under the name of Teacher Meetings to bring together experienced teachers and students
5-Increasing field trips
6-Providing information and faculty support to schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education
At the end of the meeting, participants agreed that the opinions and suggestions received from external stakeholders should be considered in the quality assurance processes of the History Department, the development of curriculum and application areas, and the increase of internationalization activities.
